Anambra state governor, Chukwuma Soludo’s newly launched Agunechemba security squad, Saturday, arrested two suspected kidnappers and five prostitutes at Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area (LGA).
The suspects, it was learnt, were arrested when the operation raided a kidnappers’ hideout in a brothel partition with over 30 graves on the last floor with a shrine and located along the Onitsha-Owerri expressway.
According to a trending video, the exercise was carried out following a tip-off from local residents even as one-storey building that housed the kidnappers and prostitutes was also demolished by the security operatives, in accordance with Anambra State’s Agunechemba Security Laws.
Although the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, Prince Kenneth Emeakayi, was unavailable for comment, an operative confirmed that some members of the gang were on the run while riffles and ammunitions recovered had been taken to the Police.
“We received information that some young men had been visiting the brothel regularly, arriving late in the evening and leaving early in the morning. We kept watch on them, and after confirming the information, our team moved in and apprehended them,” he added.
