Anambara carnage: Umahi condoles with Obiano

Chairman, South East Governors Forum and Governor of Ebonyi state, Chief David Umahi, has described yesterday’s attack on worshipers at St. Philips Catholic Church, Ozubulu as “a national tragedy.” Umahi, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Emmanuel Uzor, condoled with the government of Anambra state and entire Catholic faithful of Nnewi Catholic Diocese, as well as families of those that lost their loved ones and called for proper investigation to unravel the true cause of the butchery at the church. He expressed shock at the level of wickedness exhibited by the unknown gunmen who had earlier invaded St. Philips Catholic Church, Ozubullu, yesterday and opened fi re on the innocent worshippers and prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest.

“Th is type of wickedness has further opened fresh wounds in our souls and further pointed to the dynamism of human existence. I, on behalf of the good people of Ebonyi state, condemn the wanton killings recorded yesterday in a Church in Anambra state. It shows how wicked our generation is drifting into. Th e killing of the innocent worshippers is commendable and I call on security agencies to intensify investigation to unravel the true cause of the carnage “ He further called on the entire Southeast zone to remain calm as the governors of the zone would do everything humanly possible to secure the lives and property of the people of the zone.
