Analyst lauds Senate President on elites’ patronage of trains

A Kano-based public affairs commentator Alhaji Bashir Hayatu Gentile has commended the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan for his courage in calling on elite patronising the Kaduna-Abuja bound train to use the road instead.

Reacting to the Senate President’s remarks, Gentile said there was the compelling need for the federal government to rid the high way of the dreaded activities of kidnappers.

He said, “I have also concurred with the observations made by the Senate President on elites’ patronage of the Kaduna-Abuja bound train.

“What he said is an indisputable fact. With the elite shunning the road, fear would be created in the minds of the common man that his life and property are not safe.

“People would agree with me that the issue of making the road safe and secured would be treated with utmost seriousness, if the elite abandon the rail line for the masses to use, they would undoubtedly put pressure on those that matter to take bold steps in ensuring that adequate security is provided.”

Gentile called on the federal government to keep a constant vigil on the nation’s high ways with a view to curtailing activities of bandits.
