Amusan to burn track in Golden Spike, Diamond League

Tobi Amusan, the world record holder in women’s hurdles, is set to make her highly anticipated return to competition as she takes on the world’s finest hurdlers at two prestigious events – the Golden Spike meet in Ostrava and the Diamond League in Lausanne.

The action kicks off in Ostrava on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 where Amusan will face off against a star-studded field, including the reigning Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, former world champion Nia Ali, and the sensational US athlete Tia Jones.

This showdown promises to be a thrilling battle of speed and technique, as each athlete strives to demonstrate their prowess on the track.

Following the Ostrava meet, Amusan’s next challenge awaits at the Diamond League in Lausanne on Friday, June 30. Here, she will embark on her Diamond League campaign against a formidable lineup featuring Camacho-Quinn, Ali, Jones, and the impressive Alaysha Johnson, who has been one of the standout performers this season.

The competition will be fierce, with each athlete determined to claim victory and etch their name in the annals of track and field history.

Amusan, the reigning world champion in the hurdles event, aims to build on her recent success at the Racers Grand Prix in Jamaica, where she showcased her dominance by triumphing in a convincing Season’s Best time of 12.57 seconds.

This victory provided her with a surge of confidence and a strong foundation for her upcoming challenges.

Furthermore, Amusan harbors a burning desire for redemption, as she seeks to avenge the defeats she has suffered at the hands of her rivals earlier in the season.

Eager to reclaim her status as the undisputed champion, Amusan has left behind her injury setbacks and is now fully focused on regaining her top form in preparation for the defense of her world title in Budapest.
