No fewer than 21 suspected criminals from various local governments in Ondo state have been arrested for one crime or the other by Western Security Network, code named Amotekun.
The corps commander in the state ,Akogun Adetunji Adeleye made this known in Akure, Ondo state capital, noted that criminal activities is now static in the state.
He said the more they device means of check-mating the criminals, they also move forward , adding that with the support of Ondo state people and the provision of credible and actionable information, the corps will get around it.
While advising and cautioning the public not to patronise Okada that use hoods to cover their heads and only leaving spaces for their eyes and nose, as those known to be criminals, especially in the night.
He said the Amotekun corps were able to break a syndicate that devised another means of dispossessing innocent okada riders of their okada. Some of them have been killed. They use guns, heavy objects, and rather than mount the okada, they ride beside the okada and hit s people on the head and when they fall, they they pick the bike and made away with it.
He said within few minutes, such bike is dismembered and put in a sack and taken out of the state.
He informed that the corps were able to apprehend the mastermind from Benin and serious manhunt is ongoing for the accomplice.
The Amotekun corps enlightened okada riders in the state to be wary of those who rides behind them.
We also have a group who specialises in breaking into empty, unoccupied houses where the owners are not around. They burgle and empty the house of everything and it is sold to various local governments. But we were able to retrieve some of them from the different local governments.
“I want to warn people who take pleasure in buying cheap second hand items to desist, he warned.
