Amid negative press, Sokoto working under Governor Aliyu –  Danchadi

The deliberate efforts of Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto to rehabilitate the state, using his 9-point agenda has engendered silent revolution of the Seat of the Caliphate, Hon Sambo Bello Danchadi, the state’s information commissioner, has said.

Hon Danchadi, in company of Mr Emmanuel Ado, a media consultant, and Louis Achi, also a media veteran, stated this while paying a courtesy visit to Blueprint Newspapers Limited, Tuesday, in Abuja.

The state image-maker, who described the youthful Governor Aliyu as a workaholic, said the level of transformation in the state in the last one year and four months is simply intimidating.

He however regretted that the rather revolutionary style of governance is being submerged by bad press and negative publicity hype, orchestrated by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

“We have come here to Blueprint Newspapers on behalf of His Excellency to appreciate the deliberate efforts of the company to stick to professionalism, your nationwide reach and sense of patriotism in your reportage.

“We want to correct the negative publicity the government of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Aliyu has been receiving lately. It’s like calling a dog a bad name in order to hang it.

“Sokoto, indeed, is working .It’s almost magical that in the last one yea,  four months, His Excellency has dotted the landscape of Sokoto  with lots of transformation,” he said.

Bello Danchadi cautioned the Nigeria press not to dance to the war drums being beaten by some media platforms about bloated contracts, outright falsification of information about alleged move to dethrone the Sultan of Sokoto, among others but to professionally verify information before going to press.”

Responding, the Managing Director of Blueprint Limited, Malam Salisu Umar, assured the Sokoto state government of the readiness of the media organisation to engage in fruitful partnership that would yield stability in the conduct of governmental business.

He noted that the Blueprint family is built on the pillars of professionalism, national interest and developmental journalism and would do nothing to heat up the polity, but to point the way forward for leaders through agenda setting.

Editorial Director of Blueprint, Mr Clem Oluwole, and Daily Editor, Mr Abdulrahaman Adesina Abdulrauf as well as the human resources manager of the company, Nuhu Sani, all pledged to give voice to the modest leadership encore of Governor Ahmed Aliyu, with the view to impacting positively on the citizenry.
