American university of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, in Adamawa state, at the weekend graduated a total of 260 students at its sixth commencement ceremony.
The ceremony saw the awards of degrees and diplomas ranging from First Class, Second Class Upper division, Second Class Lower and Third Class in the various disciplines.
The 12-year-old institution graduated six postgraduate masters degrees in information technology; 17 others were also awarded post graduate master in management.
Similarly, six other students were awarded with postgraduate master degree in information technology, 17 others we also awarded post graduate master in management, while 237 were awarded with first degree in various disciplines.
In her address, the President of the university, Prof. Margee Ensign, charged the graduates to be good ambassadors of the school in whatever endeavours they found themselves.
The occasion also witnessed the conferment of the Doctor of letters (Honoris Causa) on Ambassador John Simon, a former United States ambassador to the African Union.
He expressed the belief that Africa’s economies had become amongst the fastest growing in the world, adding that foreign direct investment had increased by more than an order of magnitude, and that “free and fair elections are now the rule, not the exception.”
