A medical team of the Kwara State Association in North America (KSANG) yesterday arrived in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, to provide free medical services, including surgery to patients.
Leader of the team, Mr Wole Adeoye, said the team would be in Kwara state for two weeks to provide free medical service and surgery to patients in support of government’s health policies.

Adeoye commended the state government’s medicare policy, especially the rehabilitation of five general hospitals and the expansion of community health insurance scheme to more parts of the state.
The team, which comprised pharmacists, consultants and neurologists from the United States of America, also paid a courtesy visit to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.
Addressing the team, Ahmed said his administration would continue to partner non-governmental organisations (NGOs) across the world to improve access to qualitative healthcare for the people of the state.

“It’s only through partnership that access to qualitative healthcare could be achieved and sustained, given the capital intensive nature of medical care,” he said.
He said the state’s community health insurance scheme was being expanded to attain state-wide coverage in order to ensure improved access to medicare by the people.
The governor said his administration’s health policy was designed to drive governance through the availability of healthy work force with improved capacity.
