AMAC Marshall commends Maikalangu over payment of outstanding salary

…Says marshall hasn’t been disbanded

The security outfit of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), known as AMAC Marshall, has commended the council Chairman, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, over the payment of three months outstanding salary to the marshall working at the AMAC secretariat.

Addressing journalists Thursday in Abuja, at the council secretariat, the Marshall General of AMAC Marshall, Kasimu Ishayu Chicha, said the payment will motivate the officers to continue discharging their duties with regards to partnering security agencies in the protection of lives and property.

He said: “Since his assumption of office, the Executive Chairman of AMAC, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has always had the interest of AMAC and FCT residents at heart. His love for the activities of AMAC Marshall necessitated his payment of some of the outstanding salaries of the marshall working in the secretariat, despite meager resources of the council.

“Though the morale of the officers have been low for a long time, the payment will motivate them to continue discharging their duties in the protection of lives of property of AMAC residents, especially with regards to partnership with security agencies.

“As you know, AMAC Marshall is a separate security company of the council approved by the DSS and NSCDC. We have recorded numerous achievements, including the arrest of a Boko Haram member at Utako market and dislodging criminals at Karshi.

“I also want to use this opportunity to, once again, tell the general public that AMAC Marshall was never disbanded at any time. The fake news was planted in the media by some desperate political hoodlums without the Chairman’s knowledge.”

He added: “I want to appeal to the chairman and others to do more to make sure AMAC Marshall does not die. AMAC has the mandate to compliment the conventional security within the metropolis, especially in this era of insecurity. We are approaching Sallah and people take advantage of that to commit atrocities.

“AMAC Marshall officers are working in all the 12 wards of AMAC, but all their moral is low because of poor welfare. Therefore, the welfare is important. Nevertheless, I advise AMAC and FCT residents to give full cooperation to AMAC Marshall so that we can continue achieving success with regards to safeguarding lives and property.”
