AMAC @ 35: Candido accents to bill to honour past leaders

As part of efforts to celebrate Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), the chairman of the council, Abdullahi Adamu Candido, Monday accented to a bill to honour past elected chairmen, vice chairmen and speakers who had served the council.

Candido, who accented to the bill at the council secretariat Abuja, said since 1989, there were elected officials running the affairs of AMAC and bringing development in their own unique ways to the people of the council.

He said those leaders are today heroes of the council and they would not allow their labour to be in vain.
The chairman said  the elected chairmen would be going home with N500, 000, vice chairmen, N300,000, while the speakers would earn N200,000 annually, saying that the gestures only apply to living ones.
“A bill in this respect was crated and sent to the legislative arm for necessary deliberations and by the grace of Allah, this bill has been critically examined by the legislators and found to be worthy of being gazetted and has been passed accordingly,” Candido said.

The AMAC chairman congratulated Nigeria and President Muhammadu Buhari on the 59 anniversary of the country and also congratulated AMAC residents on its 35 years anniversary.
