Allow small-scale industries to establish refineries, NASSI urges FG

The national president of the National Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI), Dr. Solomon Daniel Vongfa, has  called on the federal government to allow small-scale industries to establish petroleum refineries in each state.

Dr. Vongfa made the call while speaking during the inaugural meeting of the new executive of the association  in Gombe on Tuesday.

He said as an immediate measure to alleviate the hardships caused by the removal of fuel subsidies and their skyrocketing price hike, the federal government should allow small and medium industrialists to establish at least 20 modular refineries in each state of the federation.

He added that the measure will aid in mitigating the current hardships and challenges faced by Nigerians.

Dr. Solomon added that instead of waiting for the Dangote refinery to start full operation or fixing the downed federal government refineries, the federal government should consider the measure as the way forward.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected state chairman of the association, Mr. Elias Estakis, promised to run an open door policy by diligently discharging his duties for the association to move forward.

“NASSI members in the state should come together and reunite as one family to build a formidable association that the country will reckon with.”

Estakis added that he will use his working experience as a retired civil servant in the Ministry of Commerce to take NASSI to a higher level.
