Alleged treasonable felony: Police arraign 29 Yoruba Nation agitators in Court  


The arrested 29 Yoruba Nation agitators were Wednesday arraigned before an Oyo state Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ibadan over the invasion of the Oyo state government secretariat, Ibadan,  Saturday.

According to the Police Investigate Prosecution Officer, Inspector Bello Rasaq, the suspects were arraigned on seven count charge bothering on treasonable felony, unlawful society, illegal possession of firearm, armed and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

Inspector Rasaq told the court the offences is contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol.II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.

Upon the arrangement, Chief Magistrate O. Ogunkanmi, ordered that the suspects be remanded at the Correctional Centre, Agodi, Ibadan. 

Chief Magistrate Ogunkanmi adjourned the case to 1st of August, 2024 for hearing.
