
The Nigeria Association of Women journalists (NAWOJ), Oyo state chapter on Saturday called on the Lagos state government and security agents to ensure prosecution of the Nollywood actor, “Baba Ijesha” allegedly violating a 14year-old girl
Oyo NAWOJ stated this in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, jointly signed by its Chairperson, Comrade Jadesola Ajibola and Secretary, Comrade Stella Olabanji .
The association expressed disappointment in the alleged action of the said Nollywood actor for allegedly defiling a minor for 7years.
“We wish to say that this is a clear violation of the Child’s Right Act and Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Oyo NAWOJ, believes that this is an unthinkable act coming from a well-respected citizen,”, it said
Oyo NAWOJ however, tasked the police to protect and preserve the evidence before it by the parents adding, “we believe that children must be told their rights and made to understand the importance of the Child’s Rights Act.”
It urged all the tiers of government in the country to include in the school’s curriculum, sex education to prevent such cases of abuse and violation of Nigerian children.
