Alleged rights abuse: Army expands members of board of enquiry

Nigerian Army has expanded members of the special board of inquiry to investigate allegations of human right violations by some personnel during its various operations across the country.
The additional members include, Col.  PC Izukanne (rtd), Mr. Tony Ojukwu and Mr. Olawale Fapohunda.  This raises members of the board to 10.
According to a statement by the Director Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Sani Kukasheka Usman, the expansion of the board followed observations and wide consultations by the army leadership.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai had last week constituted a 7-member special board, headed by is headed by Maj. Gen. Ahmed Jibril (rtd). Other members are: Brig. Gen. Dadan Garba (rtd), Brig. Gen. Abdulqadir Gumi (rtd), Brig. Gen. OL Olayinka, Col. IB Mohammed, Col. UM Wambai, and Lt. Col. CM Akaliro, who will serve as secretary of the board.
Buratai charged the members to thorough and objective in their investigation of the allegations raging from extra-judicial executions, arbitrary arrest, detentions, torture and enforced disappearance of suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
