Al-Fulany to be honoured as best Arabic literary author  in  Morrocco November 1

 

An Ilorin-born author, Adam Yahaya Abdurrahman Al-Fulany, has won  the best price in Arabic literature for the year 2022.

He was singled out for the award by Eyes of Arabic Literature Forum ‘Uyoon El-Adab El-Arabi’ in Morocco.

This, according to the award sponsors, was “in recognition of his contribution to creative and academic writing in Arabic, cutting across fictions, literary criticism, biographies, plays, religious, cultural, and critical discourses.”    

Al-Fulany will be honored with the award at the 12th annual Awards of  ‘Uyoon El-Adab El-Arabi’  November 1, 2022, in the City of Uyoon, Morocco.  

In 2021, Al-Fulany  won the best award for Black African literature in Arabic at the annual Hamsa International Festival for Arts and Literature in Cairo, Egypt, following his nomination by the Nigerian Center for Arabic Research for the 2021 international literary award.

A prolific writer of immense repute, Alfulany is one of the most prominent contemporary African Arabic literary writers.

He has published over 30 books in Arabic, some of which include; The Shepherd (Raai Al-Ganam), The People of Takror (Ahl Al-Takror), On the Road (‘Alat-Tariq), The  Soul University (Jamiah Alarwah), The Unseen in the lights of Science and Religion (Al-Gaibiyyat ala Dao’i Al-Ilm was Al-Deen), Missions of Man on the Surface of the Earth (Muhimmah Al-Insan Ala Sath Al-Ard) and The Struggle of these Generations on Issues of Islam (Sira Al-Ajyal fi Qadaya Al-Islam) among others.

Born January 30, 1963, the scholar attended Darul Ulum Secondary School Ilorin,  Kwara state, Markaz Centre for Arabic Studies Agege, Lagos state, and Government Secondary School(GSS) Ilorin.

For his university education, Al-Fulany bagged  a bachelor’s degree in Arabic Literatures from Bayero University Kano (BUK) in 1992, and Master of Arts in International Relations in 1994, from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria.

He has attended conferences on literary and critical studies at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, University of Cairo, University of Kuwait, Bayero University Kano and other universities in the Arab world.

Meanwhile, a former minister of sports and youth development, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, has decried Al-Fulany’s recognition as a further testament that  the city of Ilorin is blessed with eminent scholars in different fields of life, especially that of literature.

Abdullahi, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Kwara Central Senatorial District, said this in a statement  by the Omoluabi Media Team and signed by Esinrogunjo Ibrahim in Ilorin,

Abdullahi said  the award was  a recognition of Al-Fulany’s hard work and commitment to the betterment of humanity through literature, and congratulated  Emir of Ilorin Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari and the entire Emirate  for the feat.

“As a senior editor and decorated writer, I know the supreme efforts it takes to earn recognition in the field of literature. I am very proud to congratulate my brother and friend, Sheikh Adam Yahaya Al-Fulani over his recognition at the Arab Literature Eye Forum in Morocco” Abdullahi said.
