The 2 Brigade Nigerian Army weekend announced plans to demolish unserviceable ammunition and explosives at the 6 Battalion Range Area in Abak local government area of Akwa Ibom state.
Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Adebowale Adejimi, said the exercise will take place from Tuesday, September 10, to Thursday, September 19, 2024.
In a press release issued in Uyo, weekend, Adejimi urged residents of Abak to stay away from the designated exercise area during the period.
He also assured them that there is no need to panic at the sound of explosives, as adequate security measures have been put in place to protect lives and properties in the area.
The statement reads: “The demolition of unserviceable ammunition and explosives will take place at 6 Battalion Range Area in Abak LGA from Tuesday, September 10, to Thursday, September 19, 2024.
“We request that the good people of Abak LGA stay off the designated exercise area and refrain from panicking at the sound of explosives.
Please note that adequate safety and security measures have been put in place at the range area and its environs.”
