Akunyili was a courageous woman – Minister

Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has mourned the death of former Information Minister, Pro.f Dora Akunyili.
In a statement by the ministry’s Chief Press Secretary, Saghir El-Mohammed,  the Minister, Hajiya Zainab Maina, commiserated with the family, the government and people of Anambra state for the untimely death of Prof. Akunyili.
She described her as a woman of uncommon courage and commitment to project Nigeria, saying Nigerian women have lost a great ambassador of womanhood.

She said the late Akunyili was a patriotic public servant who had sacrificed her personal comfort and life, in the service of the country.
Maina added that the late NAFDAC boss could be described as the “first female President” Nigeria never had.
“On behalf of the Nigerian women, the Minister prayed for the repose of the soul of Prof. Dora Akunyili, and the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” she said.
