Immediate past President of the Association of National Accountants of  Nigeria(ANAN), Hajia Mariam Ladi Ibrahim, has said that members of the ongoing national conference had unanimously considered and approved the completion of Ajaokuta Steel Complex for the industrialisation of the country.
Ibrahim disclosed this at the weekend in Okene during the 40th day prayer for the late Adamu Atta, the first civilian governor of old Kwara state.
She said the statement made by few members of the conference in which they advised the federal government to sell the giant steel plant was borne out of lack of political will by the past administration to complete the project.

She said the same people that made the statement also championed the call for the completion of the steel plant at one of their plenary sessions, adding that members had unanimously agreed that for the nation to attain the desired development and reduce over dependence on foreign countries on the usage of steel products, “the Ajaokuta Steel Complex must be completed before any other thing can be done.”

she said: “I want to assure Nigerians that with the unanimous consideration and approval of the conference, President Goodluck Jonathan will definitely see to the working of the steel plant for the benefit of the people, because completing Ajaokuta Steel Complex for the nation means that Nigeria is ready and willing to actualise the dreams of industrialisation which we have been craving for.”
Also speaking, the immediate past deputy governor of Kogi state, Chief Philip Salawu, said it had been discovered that the steel complex was a very important element in the development of the country, stressing that if completed it would feed Alaja, Katsina and other rolling mills.
