Aisha takes over as UniAbuja acting VC, harps on academic excellence

Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi has expressed her commitment to academic excellence as the value that would define the focus of the university.

Making this commitment while receiving the handover note from the 6th outgoing VC of the university, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, in Abuja on Monday, the acting VC said: “I stand before you today as the Acting Vice Chancellor of this esteemed institution. I am honoured to accept this role and to build upon the outstanding work of my predecessor, whose leadership has guided us through many significant milestones.”

She thanked Professor Na’Allah for his tireless dedication and unwavering commitment to upgrading the university, noting: “Our University is a beacon of knowledge, innovation, and community engagement. Each member of our academic family, from faculty and staff to students and alumni, plays an essential role in sustaining and enhancing our mission.

“Together, we have cultivated an environment that fosters intellectual growth, creative exploration, and the pursuit of excellence.”

Prof Maikudi disclosed that the Governing Council of UniAbuja would be inaugurated on Thursday, July4, 2024, which will bring an end to the impasse the institution has had over time.

“With the Governing Council in place, I am confident that we will soon see a return to normalcy, allowing us to focus on our primary mission of education and research,” she said.

Responding, Prof Na’Allah appreciated members of the university community, management, Senate, staff and students of the university, for their hard work, support and cooperation in the five years he presided over the university; and appealed to them to extend the same cooperation to the incoming administration.
