Aisha Buhari flags off skill acquisition for Kwara women

Nigeria’ s first lady, Hajia Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday in Ilorin, Kwara state flagged off a two- week skills acquisition and empowerment programme for women and youths.
Th e scheme, which was under the First Lady’ s “ Future Assured” programme was targeted at 1000 women and youths drawn from the 16 local government areas of the state.
Represented by the wife of Kwara state governor, Mrs Omolewa Ahmed, Hajia Aisha Buhari said the programme was aimed at bettering the lives of the beneficiaries.

She noted that joblessness had forced many youths to engage in anti- social behaviours, adding that a survey was conducted to determine which vocations were suitable for women and youths in the state.
She added that the major aim of her pet project, ‘Future Assured’ is how the youths and women could be gainfully employed.
On her part, Mrs. Omolewa Ahmed said money would be made available to those who excel at the end of the training programme to start their own businesses.
She urged the benefi ciaries to see the programme as a great opportunity and take maximum advantage of it.
She thanked Hajia Aishat Buhari for her interest in the wellbeing of the Nigerian youths and women.
In his remarks, the Kwara state governor, Alh Abfulfatah Ahmed thanked the Nigeria’s fi rst lady for making Kwara part of the fi rst set of 10 states to benefi t from the programme.
He said the training and empowerment programme was highly complementary to the many youths and women friendly programmes and policies of his administration
