Ailing Taraba deputy governor may return soon – Commissioner 

 

Taraba state Commissioner for Information and Reorientation, Zainab Usman Jalingo, Tuesday, said the ailing deputy governor of the state, Alhaji Aminu  Alkali, is recuperating and may return to the state soon.

Zainab who stated this in Jalingo while updating journalists on the health status of the deputy governor said Alkali for over three months was down with stroke. 

“The stroke has affected his ability to talk, but with the treatment  so far, he  is recuperating and may resume soon. 

“Sometime around November last year, His Excellency, the deputy governor fell sick and he was taken to Abuja for treatment. After sometimes in Abuja, he was moved to Cairo, Egypt, for further treatment and the Commissioner of Health was directed by the state executive council to visit him in Cairo and ascertain his health condition and report back.

“Sickness is something that is general and can happen to anyone.  Before someone would approach a court of law to ascertain the health, fitness, or otherwise of any principal officer in the state, the human nature of a particular person should be taken into consideration,” she said. 

She added that the deputy governor is a human being adding, “The person who went to the court over his health condition is human and can fall sick too. He is recuperating very well and we are expecting him to resume his duty,” she stated. 

On his part, the Taraba State Commissioner for Health, Bordiya Buma, who visited the ailing deputy governor in Egypt, said he is recuperating well.
