Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), in-charge of Zone 5, Hashimu Salihu Argungu, yesterday warned politicians in Delta state to stop heating up the political space.
The AIG, who was on a working visit to the state, said already the peace of the state had come under threat.
He said: “The event of the recent time has shown that there are elements within the society who for selfish interest are engaging in activities capable of threatening security and public safety which we all crave for.”
He warned elders, leaders and stakeholders of registered political parties against taking the law into their hands.
Blueprint reports that the warning may not be unconnected with the political crisis rocking the zoning formula of the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which had, since two weeks ago, pitched the PDP state chairman, Chief Peter Nwaoboshi, against the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Comrade Ovouzorie Macaulay, over who succeeds Governor Emmanuel Oduaghan.
