A‘Ibom Gov in dilemma over constitution of new cabinet

The reconstitution of members of Akwa Ibom State Executive Council to replace those dissolved by Governor Udom Emmanuel on the 29th of May is now giving the governor sleepless nights even as he has promised appointing competent professional to drive his second term Completion Agenda.

Close associate of the governor told our correspondent that the governor is finding it difficult to get credible hands to appoint into the State Executive Council.

The source said: Emmanuel has no political structures of his own. He was brought in to governance be Akpabio and made the state governor. Most of the civil commissioners in his first term were inherited from Akpabio’s last term and a few friends he brought in from Lagos. He doesn’t have the political clout to draw from.

“All the appointees in his first term delivered their wards and units in the last general election which gave him his second term victory. Now, he doesn’t know who to drop from the cabinet and who to reappoint into the new cabinet.” The source said.

Main while, the source added that top shots in the People’s Democratic Party, traditional rulers, religious bodies, and political lobbyist are on his neck conversing for the inclusion of their loyalists in next cabinet.
