No fewer than six people have reportedly been shot dead by a group of armed bandits in Dansadau town of Maru local government area in Zamfara state.
Resident of the area who pleaded not to be mentioned in a telephone interview with Blueprint said, the terrorists invaded the town around 2pm on Tuesday afternoon, riding on motorcycles in their large numbers.
According to him, the terrorists began shooting sporadically at the people along Dansadau motor park and main market as four persons sustained serious gunshots during the attack.
“When we sighted their coming, people began running helter-scalter for their safety but unfortunately, six of our people were killed by the bandits as four people sustained serious gunshots now receiving medical attention at our general hospital,” he added
Blueprint correspondent reports that Dansadau has become inaccessible for over two years as bandits made the area their operational territory.
Efforts to reach the state police command spokesperson ASP Yazeed Abubakar failed as at the time of compiling this report as all his lines were not available.
