AFCON champion with the Super Eagles in 2013, Brown Ideye, has said he is excited to return and play in the NPFL with Enyimba.
Ideye was officially unveiled as a new Enyimba player Monday.
The experienced striker signed as a free agent as he has been without a club for the past two years.
“No place like home. Thank you @enyimbafc for the opportunity. God bless,” Ideye posted on X
Ideye last played in the NPFL for defunct Ocean Boys in 2007.
The much-travelled striker has since featured in the Premier League in England, French Ligue 1, La Liga as well as in the top leagues in Switzerland, Ukraine, Turkey, Greece and Kuwait.
Enyimba sports director Ifeanyi Ekwueme said Ideye will bring his wealth of experience to bear on the nine-time Nigerian champions.
“He is a top professional whose experience will boost the team,” Ekwueme remarked.
“We are proud to have him.”
Enyimba are 11th in the NPFL standings with 23 points from 15 matches.
They are bottom of their CAF Confederation Cup first round group.
