AFCON 2025: Super Eagles coach Chelle to attend draw in Morocco

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle will attend the draw ceremony for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The draw will hold at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat on Monday January 27, 2025.

It will be his first major appearance since he was appointed the Super Eagles new boss.

Nigeria are expected to get a favourable draw for the next AFCON, which will be hosted by Morocco, after their superb run at the 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is expected to release the procedure for the draw before Monday.

24 countries have already secured a place at the biennial competition.

The Super Eagles were only denied a fourth AFCON trophy by inspired hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the championship game.

They since won their qualifying group for the 2025 AFCON, which will be staged from December 2025.

The Super Eagles are also among the top six ranked African teams on the FIFA Rankings and could therefore head one of the first round groups and that way avoid the continent’s top teams including hosts Morocco.

AFCON 2025 will be hosted by Morocco from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.
