AEDC warns Nasarawa residents against vandalism

Management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in Nasarawa has cautioned residents of the state to avoid vandalizing and encroaching on installations as that will attract punishment.
The warn was made yesterday during a one day consumer consultative forum in Lafia, where penalties on electricity regulations, electricity vandalism and encroachment were spelt out.
The Lafia Area Manager, Engr.
Samaila Jibrin who read out the order, urged residents to refrain from patronizing unlicensed electricians, saying AEDC would not take responsibility for disasters caused by consumers’ illegal actions.
He said the company has concern for the safety of all citizens of the state, saying its prime responsibility was to ensure that they educate all customers and stakeholders on the safe handling of electricity.
He called on the public to report all electrical faults in their areas to AEDC.
On the issue of direct transformer metering projects, Engr.
Jibrin said the company has commenced the installation of over 12,000 direct transformers meters on its distribution transformer substations across the state, aimed at energy balancing, accountability and full time investment.
Earlier, some customers at the event expressed dissatisfaction with the services being rendered by the company, and called on the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to revoke the license of the AEDC for its alleged incompetence to meet up with demand of the people in Nasarawa state particularly Lafia, the state capital.
