AEDC warns against illegal connection

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has once again called on the members of the public to desist from illegal connection.
It said in order to ensure uninterrupted service delivery from the company, the public must make its work easy by abstaining from illegal connections.
The warning was handed down by the Nasarawa region safety team leader, Yani Yakubu Dauda,  during a sensitization seminar on the risk electricity, in Mararaba Gurku, Karu L.G.A of Nasarawa state, yesterday.
Dauda further called on the public to adhere to safety measures while using electricity in their homes.

Dauda, who represented the Director, Risk and Compliance of the company, Nasarawa region, Colins Chabuka, advised people to be careful with electricity.
He said electric can be the most dangerous thing at home even though it is the most important companion at home.
He advised customers against involving themselves in any illegal act by engaging non staff of the company to get them connected illegally.
He said: “I am calling on our consumers  to  make sure that they switch off all their electrical appliances before going to bed or when going out of the house to avoid inferno  in the house because most of the fire disasters happen when light are left on when the owners of the house are out.”

He also called on the customers to be patient with them because of the current nationwide drop in electricity as everything was being done to normalise the situation.
On his part,  Communication officer of Nasarawa region, Segun Momor, said the company could only distribute the amount of power they get.
He said: “We don’t  generate power. Activities of the Niger Delta Avengers are the major cause of the preent power situation. I am therfre, appealing to our customer that they should be patient with us  because the government is spending a lot of money to fix everything the situation.”
