AEDC: Jikwoyi community dissatisfied with over-billing

The Jikwoyi community in Abuja has expressed dissatisfaction over the electricity over-billing by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC). Through the action of the AEDC, the community now pays for electricity not consumed.
It has become very difficult for the community to pay the huge bills which are not been consumed but placed on the people through bill estimation. “The company has rendered our small and medium businesses unable to survive and we view the company’s action as serious economic sabotage on our community and on Nigerians in general.
“The company has refused to give meters to residents but thrives on billing consumers what is not consumed. There is no parameter to assess electricity consumption. “The Jikwoyi Community wishes to use this medium to appeal to the honorable minister of FCT Abuja to prevail on the company to stop this extortion.” The community said.
It also issued a seven-day ultimatum for AEDC to withdraw all over-bills. “For avoidance of doubt at the end of this notice the Jikwoyi community would result to massive civil and legal actions to address the injustice and suppression of our economic livelihood,” the community warned.
