ADP to APC: Find solution to fuel queues or…

The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has advised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to find lasting solutions to recurring incidences of fuel scarcity bedevilling the country or bury its head in shame.
ADP National Chairman Engr. Yabagi Sani, in a statement by the Director of Media and Publicity, Kayode Jacob, yesterday in Abuja, said the persistence of fuel scarcity in Nigeria was embarrassing and shameful.
The party regretted that in spite of the APC’s acclaimed visionary governance, the federal government is still grappling unsuccessfully with the issue of curtailing fuel scarcity.
The party, which slammed the APC-led federal government for its inability to halt biting fuel scarcity for almost one month now, said the situation has rubbished its increment of pump price of petroleum products.
It advised the APC led federal government to revert to subsidy payment if that would ease the problem.
“One of the major reasons Nigerians trusted their destinies in the hands of President Muhammed Buhari was the boast on having solutions to rampant fuel crises and subsidy regime.
“But barely two years after the queues are back and government remains helpless showing evidence that nothing concrete had been done to permanently solve the problem”.
The ADP chairman, who carpeted the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, for saying the fuel crisis is shameful and that NNPC and not government is paying subsidy at this time, wondered whether NNPC is different from government.
“Who is responsible for the shameful handling of the fuel crisis and on whose behalf is NNPC doing business? He queried.
“I think the government should be responsible enough to admit its failures and frustrations instead of giving excuses on the past and pointing fingers at the opposition, he argued.
“We, at the ADP, indeed sympathize with Nigerians who had to go through untold hardship to rejoin their families at Christmas.
“It is our hope that the APC government will apologize and proffer solutions in the 13 months remaining before the curtain is drawn on their tenure”, the ADP chairman said in the statement.
