Adeyeye appoints Gladys Bawa NACCON chairperson

President General of the National Agro-allied Commodities Cooperatives of Nigeria (NACCON), Prof (Emeritus) Amb. Queen Victoria Hajarat Abike Adesuyi Adeyeye, has appointed Mrs. Gladys Joshua Bawa as chairperson in charge of women coordinators  in the 19 northern states of the federation.

This was contained in a press statement personally signed by Prof Abike Adeyeye and made available to newsmen on Monday in Abuja.

Prof Adeyeye explained that Gladys Joshua Bawa was appointed after a diligent check on NACCON’s value chain system in primary production, processing, packaging, marketing and thrift credit.

In her words: “To this effect all the adult females, girls, widows, orphans and single mothers should register with the team of Mrs. Gladys Joshua Bawa in each of the 19 northern states of Nigeria.

“It is very sure that this present administration of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has seriously taken the act of women empowerment and advancement as one of his administration’s priorities.

“Huge amounts of funds have been set aside for both women and youth empowerment, especially in the areas of agriculture, tourism and mining through the commodities co-operatives system in Nigeria.”

She said Bawa has been mandated to be in charge of all women in agro-allied cooperatives in order to deliver them from poverty, using NACCON as a duly registered agro-allied group by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and supervised by the Federal Department of Cooperatives and parastatals/organisations in Nigeria.

Adeyeye, who is also the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Agro-allied Commodities and Service Producers Nigeria Limited as well as International Chairman of Global Mechanised Farmers Initiative of Nigeria, congratulated Mrs. Bawa on her patriotic appointment, and wished her a successful tenure in office.
