Adegbite: New NCPC boss takes over

The new executive secretary of the Nigerian Christian Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has vowed to take the Commission to greater heights.

He made the vow Wednesday in Abuja while speaking with newsmen shortly after collecting his appointment letter.

He said he would build on the achievements of his predecessors as well as his wealth of experience to take the Commission forward.

He said, “It is a new dawn and you will agree with me that the biggest room in the world is the room for improvement. Yes, we appreciate the work of our predecessors, but we are here to contribute our own quota and key into the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“This year is our year of renewed hope and satisfaction; there will be a new dawn in NCPC and there will be satisfaction for this organisation and for Nigeria, and it is going to be well with every one of us.

“I have been in this journey in the last 24 years, and the first time I went to Jerusalem was in 1999, but I never thought in my wildest imagination that one day I would head the NCPC.  My wealth of experience will come to bear and by His grace we will look into every aspect of pilgrimage.”

He promised to work with the all members of the Board including the relevant stakeholders to enliven the Commission.

“Let me give a poser here; when you are leaving Nigeria to go for pilgrimage, the mentality is that we are going to Jerusalem.  If you go on pilgrimage and you haven’t entered Jerusalem it’s half pilgrimage. When you come back, what do we call you, Jerusalem Pilgrim (JP). So, we are going to pray for the peace in Jerusalem and very soon it is going to be open for all of us. That is our priority with the Board members that are here. The Board will meet and make decisive decisions on how to improve pilgrimage in Nigeria.”

Also speaking, a member of the new Board representing North-central, Simon Dolly, said there would be new changes in NCPC.

“Some of us have been with him for a long time; even in Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). He was the chairman of CAN Lagos state and I was the secretary of the North-central and by the special grace of God there would be a new change at NCPC,” he said.
