Switzerland based coach Adedeji Adeyemi Anthony has rallied support for newly-appointed head coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Sekou Chelle.
Chelle was named substantive head coach of the three-time African champions last week by the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) and will be unveil as Super Eagles head coach Monday morning at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
Chelle appointment has generated a lot of outcry among football stakeholders in the country.
“The appointment of a coach for the Super Eagles will always generate a lot of interest,” the former Stationery Stores players told Blueprint correspondent Sunday morning.
“This is one of the biggest countries in Africa and Nigerians are just too passionate about football especially the national team.
“Please, I’m appealing to all Nigerians let’s get behind Chelle.I understand how we feel about the appointment. If Chelle fails, all of us has failed too.
“Chelle has a lot to offer .His bringing mental alertness and concentration to the team..Chelle will restore 100% focus on our players which has been one of our major problems in the past.”
Adedeji has therefore solicited for support for Chelle so that Nigeria will feature at next year’s World Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico.
“A decision has been made on a new coach by the NFF and we have to support it,” he said.
“Eric Chelle is a young coach who will succeed with our support.
“We’re in a tight corner in the World Cup qualifying campaign and we have to support him to get the best out of the players, who are the main actors in this situation.
“I am optimistic that with the support of Nigerians, we will still qualify for the World Cup.”Adedeji concluded.
