ADC holds congresses in Adamawa

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has successfully held its state congresses in Adamawa where leaders of the party from the ward, local and state executives were elected.
The exercise which was concluded last weekend began with the ward exercise on August 1 and later the local government areas.
The congresses were rounded up with the election of the state executive committee members who are to pilot the affairs of the party ahead of the 2019 general elections.
A release signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Anayo Arinze, noted that only constitutional approved delegates at all levels were allowed to participate in the exercise.
“It is noteworthy that all the congresses at the wards and local government areas were hitch-free, rancor-free, free, fair and credible”, he said stressing that the ADC congresses were strictly observed by officers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Chief Arinze boasted that the conduct of the election was adjudged as unique and exemplary devoid of attitude which characterized the crisesridden congresses held by the ruling party in state and other more established political parties.
“There were no fractionalized or parallel congresses, no petitions against the electoral processes and no record of violence anywhere in the state.
“ADC has been known as the party with character, focus and integrity which is being positioned to take over power at all levels in Nigeria”, he said stressing the ADC wants to be a model party that would be emulated by others.
It would be recalled that the Coalition of Nigeria Movement (CNM) a third force initiated by former President Olusegun Obasanjo with former Osun State governor, Chief Olagunsoye Oyinlola as chairman merged with the ADC recently.
Also, the ADC is one of the 39 political parties that formed an alliance on the platform of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) with the sole aim of mobilizing against the re-election of the APC-led federal government.
