The senator representing Adamawa South, Binos Dauda Yaroe, has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the embattled Adamawa Resident Electoral Commissioner Barrister Hudu Sidi Ari.
Binos made his position known in a press released made available to journalists in Yola, Tuesday, saying the removal of the INEC official was long overdue, “following his alleged tape conversation directing his staff to manipulate the Fufore result in favour of the APC candidate even prior to the supplementary election.”
The senator said, “It is public knowledge that the Adamawa state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Yunusa Hudu was caught on tape directing INEC collation officer in Fufore local Government area to assist the APC gubernatorial candidate, which he also admitted.
“Interested parties raised the alarm and called for the replacement of the REC before the supplementary election but INEC ignored this open display of partisanship by its high ranking official.”
According to him, “INEC should urgently take step to repair its damaged reputation by handing over the embattled REC Hudu Sidi to security agencies for thorough investigations and subsequent prosecution for attempting to cause insurrection in Adamawa state.”
The senator added that if not for God’s intervention and swift action by the government the state would have been in flames by now due to the action of the REC, stressing that “a major confrontation, laced with ethnic and religious undertones, were averted in Mayo Belwa local government following the timely intervention of the DPO and operation Farauta.”
