Adamawa: Senator Abbo attracts dams to constituency

In fulfillment of his commitments to better the lots of his people and attract  federal projects to his senatorial district, the senator representing Adamawa North Senator Elisha Ishiaku Abbo has attracted the sighting of three Dams project in his senatorial. 

This is coming after several months of his intense lobbying of the executives and tireless efforts which prompted the federal government through the federal ministry of water resources to approve the project.

Already, a team of engineers from the ministry has been sent to the proposed sites of the project to carry out needs assessment for constructions of the dams in Adamawa North. 

Speaking to journalists in an interview at the project sites, Senator Abbo who led the engineers from the ministry said their decision to take up the issue with the federal government which led to the approval of the project was borne out of their commitments and resolve to serve their people. 

“You see, this is not about personal glory. I’m not a glory hunter. I believe in accountability. I believe in serving God and humanity. I have said it before, let me say it again. A public official is a man that is holding that office in trust and If you betray that trust if you die, you will stand before God and be judged.

“So, it is not about glory, it is not about Abbo. But it is about service to the people and I felt that people should benefit from government, that’s why we are here so we are not looking for glory but service to our people and that service is more important to me than anything in this world.”

He further expressed concerned that in the 21st century Nigerian children were still dying due to lack of portable drinking water, describing it as a big shame of the nation.

Abbo further listed the benefits of the project to his people to includes areas like dry season farming, rearing of animals as well as reducing incessant farmers/ herders clashes among others.

“Nigeria has over 30 million cows and the average cow in Nigeria is N100,000 which if calculated to 30 millon cows will give trillions but Nigeria is joking with this huge investment.”

Also speaking, the member representing Mubi North/South /Maiha federal constituency in the National Assembly Hon Jafar Magaji commended the federal government for approving the project stressing that it would go along way  to ameliorate the sufferings of their people. 

On his part, the leader of the team of engineers from the federal ministry of water resources that came for the assessment Mr. Fidelis Mamza said they were in the proposed sites for need assessment, alongside the feasibility study of sighting a Dam in the area.
