Adamawa: Boko Haram mobilising to launch attack on Garkida, lawmaker alerts

The lawmakers representing Gombi constituency in Adamawa state House of Assembly, Hon. Japhet  Kefas has raised the alarm over Boko Haram’s fresh plot to launch attack  against Garkida community in Gombi local government area of Adamawa state.

This alarm is coming barely two days after the insurgents in their large numbers on Christmas eve stormed Garkida community in Gombi local government, killing six civilians and left many others injured.

Speaking in a telephone interview, Hon Japhet  Kefas, who is the Deputy Majority Leader and Chairman House Committee on Information said they had already  drawn the attention of the military and other security agencies to the unfortunate development to keep them on alert incase of any eventuality, stressing that nine trucks of Boko Haram fighters were sighted at Kalamba an outskirts of Garkida on Saturday evening.

“Information has just reached us now that, Boko Haram fighters are mobilising themselves to Garkida for another attack, urging us to be careful. Now we are mobilising hunters and vigilantes to avoid possible attack. We are working keenly to deploy vigilantes and hunters to Garkida town; the logistics is quite demanding to cater for the hunters who will be camped in the town for sometimes,” he said.

According to him, they will not take anything for granted or be careless with information on the movement of the insurgents because it was in similar manner they operated in Garkida on the eve of Christmas resulting into death of six civilians.

The lawmakers further pointed out that, the Christmas eve attacked on Garkida by Boko Haram left six people death, two abducted  and others injured, noting that it was not yet clear if those abducted were dead or still alive.
