Activist to Omo-Agege: Don’t kill Ossai’s Kwale Fedpoly bill

Abuja-based activist and human rights crusader, Mr. Victor Jobo, has admonished the Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege to team up with Hon Ossai Nicholas Ossai in the effort to develop Ndokwa and Urhobo ethnic nationalities of Delta state.

Mr Jobo, in a statement issued to Blueprint, Wednesday, said Hon.  Ossai, representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani federal constituency of Delta state, had previously   sponsored a bill for the establishment of a Federal Polytechnic Kwale for his constituency, in the lower chamber of the National Assembly for the benefit of his people and Nigerians.

He said “The bill  which  was transmitted by the House last year, was  sent to the Senate for concurrence,  unfortunately suffered setback as  the stepped down for no reasons, but  not quite  long  a similar  Bill  resurfaced in the Senate seeking to establish a federal polytechnic in Oregun by   the Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo Agege  also in  his own clan in  Delta state, and   was transmitted  to the House of Representatives for concurrence.”

According to the activist, Hon. Ossai raised a point of order urging the House of Representatives to also step down the Senate version; since it was the same Bill he sponsored and was stepped down by the Senate.

He explained that, “While Ossai hails from Ndokwa ethnic nationality ,Omo Agege is from Urhobo ethnic group in Ughelli North local government area of Delta state.”

“The Urhobo ethnic nationality has more tertiary institutions with more federal presence, Ndokwa  clan has only a neglected prison yard as the only federal presence in the constituency.”

He, therefore, urged Omo-Agege to team up with Ossai in the effort to develop their areas instead of using his position to frustrate legislative engineering at the National Assembly.
