Abuja South Rep empowers widows, youth

Over three hundred widows and youth from the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) were Monday presented with different empowerment items and cash grants to boost their social economic status in their respective domains and villages.  

Presenting the items to the beneficiaries in Gwagwalada, Abuja, the House of Representatives member, Abuja south comprising Kuje, Gwagwalada, Kwali and Abaji Federal Constituency, Hassan Usman Sokodobo, said the empowerment scheme was part of his capacity building and self employment, economic independence and self-reliance, better living standards and poverty alleviation of the people. 

Sokodobo urged leaders to be good representatives of the people and  plan on how to carry out development in their respective domains for the general interest of the people.

He said he always derive joy whenever he tries to ensure that people are empowered socially, economically and religiously, adding that the gesture has always been to demonstrate love, care and kindness to those of lower means of livelihood, irrespective of tribe, religion and skin colour. 

He stated that because he knew how important it is for the underprivileged to succeed in live, he presented these empowerment items and cash grants that will bring them next to better livelihoods. 

The lawmaker commended people of his constituency for maintaining peace and order to sustain democracy. 

The former chairman of Kwali area council, Ibrahim Daniel, who was the chairman of the occasion, called on the people to support Sokodobo and Senator Philip Aduda in order  to contribute more for those in need in  their constituency and FCT in particular.
