Abuja lawyer who threatened Umahi lauds appointment

Abuja lawyer who threatened to sue former governor of Ebonyi state, Senator Dave Umahi if he declined ministerial nomination has lauded his appointment and has congratulated him.

Blueprint reports that Emmanuel Ekwe, a legal practitioner had threatened to drag Senator Umahi to court if he rejects ministerial appointment from President Bola Tinubu.

In a press statement made available to newsmen on Thursday, Ekwe congratulated him on his appointment as the Minister of Works.

Ekwe stated that he is optimistic that Umahi will use his expertise to  actualise the visions of President Bola Tinubu in the area of infrastructural development.

The lawyer noted that the achievements of Senator Umahi while he held sway as the governor of Ebonyi State had put him as the best man to compliment President Tinubu in the area of critical infrastructures.

Ekwe added that Senator Umahi made notable impacts, especially in the area of infrastructure, and human capital development, among others in Ebonyi State, and added that Ebonyi State witnessed unprecedented transformation under Umahi’s administration.

“I heartily congratulate His Excellency, Senator David Umahi on his well deserved appointment as the Minister of Works, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Although, I threatened to drag him to court if had rejected the nomination, I am glad he did not decline the position.

“I also thank the pragmatic president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for finding our illustrious son worthy of the position. 

“I had asked Mr. President to appoint him the Minister of Works in view of his track records and l am happy he hearkened.

“Being a grade “A” civil engineer and in view of his good works while the held sway as the governor of Ebonyi state, I have no doubt that he will complement President Bola Tinubu in providing life-changing infrastructures. He did in Ebonyi state. He will replicate same in

Nigeria.” he added.
