The Chief Justice of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Hon, Justice Husseini Baba Yusuf, has said the recent increase in workforce and creation of additional divisions has aided quick delivery of justice in the federal capital.
Yusuf stated this Monday at the 2022/23 legal year of the FCT Judiciary held in Maitama, at the court premises in Abuja.
The programme which started with a colorful ceremonial parade by the Nigerian Police had in attendance dignitaries across boards, justices and lawyers from both the bar and bench.
The hallmarks of the ceremony were awards presentations to dedicated staffs and the signing of practice directions on the Violence Against Persons (Prohibitions) VAPP Act 2015 and Trial of Sexual and Gender Based Violence cases.
While delivering his opening remarks at the ceremony, Yusuf noted that with the absorption of new judges and creation of additional judiciary divisions in Garki, Bwari, Jikwoyi and Lifecamp, the court, he said, has witnessed an increase in workforce, saying the moves has aided justice deliveries in the courts.
He hailed brother justices at the occasion, saying it was their tireless efforts that made the court disposal rate increase marginally, compared to last year. He charged them to brace up towards delivering more impartial judgments.
“With increase in workforce and additional judiciary division, I want to assure my brother judges and judiciary workers that my leadership is committed to the fundamental of judiciary and necessary reforms.”
