About HYPPADEC YTP scheme

I decided to write Blueprint because I once came across an article you published about HYPPADEC Youth Transformation Programme (YTP) under HYPPADEC. It was launched during former President Muhammadu Buhari administration with the aim of empowering 5,000 youth a year.

The launch of the programme that took place at Justice Levu Kutigi hall Minna, Niger state was graced by Sunday Dare, the then minister of youth and sports development, and was also witnessed by beneficiaries of the programme.

To cut the story short, the programme commenced on the first week of September 2022 and ended on November 30, 2023. Some trades took three months, while others took six months, and stipends where paid to some of the beneficiaries. Many are still waiting for theirs.

After March 30, 2023, nothing was communicated to the beneficiaries untill August 2023 when HYPPADEC got information that some beneficiaries were planning to stage a peaceful protest to demand for starter packs as promised by HYPPADEC.

They then released a statement that they were planning to register business names for all beneficiaries with the Corporate Affairs Commission. After a month, they gave us CAC forms to fill, which we did and submitted in October 2023. It is taking too long, inflation has set in. Even if HYPPADEC gives us starter packs now, how much are poultry and fish feeds now?

I am a beneficiary, the commission promised us starter packs and some money to kick start the various trades we learned. I decided to use this newspaper because you are a voice to the voiceless.
