Abia: I’ m optimistic of fair judgement at tribunal, says Ohuabunwa

The senator that represented Abia North senatorial district in the 8th National Assembly, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, has expressed hope that he would reclaim his mandate at the ongoing election petition tribunal.

Senator Ohuabunwa disclosed this at the tribunal sitting in Umuahia shortly after his party agent testified before the tribunal. Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is currently occupying the seat.

The senator said he was a lot optimistic now than during the last sitting because the disappearance of documents he had tendered were declared missing, adding these documents have been re -tendered.

Further, he expressed delight with the way the proceedings were being conducted at the tribunal, noting that tribunal is about documents presentation.

He pointed out that there was no public declaration of the winner made in Abia North senatorial district except the one made behind the scene.

He said with the re-tendering of the missing documents elections in Bende and Arochukwu local government areas where glaring discrepancies occurred there should be re-run or the entire processes cancelled.

On his part, counsel to the petitioner, Barr Mike Onyeka noted with satisfaction of how the proceedings are going on in the tribunal, adding the Barr Ukpai Okorie Ukiro testified for over five hours because he knows all the things that happened on the election day in his capacity as party agent who was on the field, adding that his evidence was disposed of before the tribunal.
