Abia: German establishment appoints APGA ex-deputy governorship candidate as country director 

The immediate past deputy governorship candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Abia state chapter, Hon Obinna Ichita, has been appointed the Country Director/Principal Representative of the German initiative for Knowledge transfer in the federal republic of Nigeria.

This news was contained in a letter of approval of the appointment dated Monday, 8th January, 2024 issued and signed by Board Secretary, Daniel John Ferries, Berlin, stating that the appointment is with immediate effect.

The letter read “It is my pleasure to announce that approval has been granted for the appointment Hon Obinna Ichita, as the Country Director/ Principal  Representative of the German Initiative for Knowledge Transfer in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.  

The release further stated that 

Obinna Ichita was trained in Nigeria, Germany and England. “We are confident that his tacit knowledge will enhance the attainment of the objectives of our organization in Nigeria. 

“The new Country Director will in partnership with the relevant authorities, stakeholders and our development partners in the host country, coordinate and direct all the activities of our agency with a view to achieving our Aid and Development agenda in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. 

The release noted that the relevant authorities have been notified of this development accordingly .

Meanwhile, in a statement issued in Umuahia on Monday, Ichita, who was the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the 2023 General Elections in Abia state, expressed delight over his appointment.

He thanked individuals and corporate organisations that had a hand in his nomination for the job and promised to discharge his responsibilities diligently. 

Ichita, who represented Aba South constituency in the Abia House of Assembly from 2019 to 2023, said Nigeria would benefit immensely from the initiative in the areas of agriculture, information technology, science and mathematics, hydrocarbon, engineering and artificial intelligence, among others.
