Nine travellers escaped death in an auto crash which occurred early Saturday on the Ogbomoso-Oyo expressway area of Oyo state.
The travellers however sustained varying degrees of burns while four escaped unhurt.
Sources said the accident involved a trailer and a truck at Sekona area on the Ogbomoso – Oyo expressway around 3am.
Oyo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Joshua Adekanye, confirmed the accident, saying it involved a trailer and a truck at Sekona area on the Ogbomoso – Oyo expressway on Saturday.
“The accident happened around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, and the truck caught fire when the trailer collided with it. The actual cause of the truck’s accident which went on fire could not be ascertained because it happened at night,” he said.
Mr Adekanye stressed that the likely cause of the trailer colliding with the truck might be over speeding and wrongful overtaking, and that the victims were being referred to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital for treatment, adding that the RS11.31 Ogbomoso and RS11.312 Oolo commands conducted rescue operations.
