7 motorcyclists die celebrating Buhari’s victory in Suleja

Seven motorcyclists on Tuesday in Suleja were crushed to death by a moving car while celebrating the victory of General Muhammadu Buhari at the just concluded polls.

It was gathered that the deceased were part of a group of youth, who were using their motorcycles to display in the town.
The incident occurred at two different locations in Kwamba and Morroco road.

A staff at the Suleja General Hospital, who spoke on the ground of anonymity, said seven persons were confirmed dead at the hospital.

The source said the deceased “met their waterloo at various locations in Suleja and were brought into the hospital while celebrating Buhari’s victory at the polls”.

It would be recall that the Niger state governor, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu, restricted movement in the state on March 30 following the breakdown of law and order after the announcement of presidential election results.

The governor, who spoke through his Secretary to State Government, Saidu Ndako Kpaki, said the curfew, which was from 6pmin the evening to 8am the next day, was expected to affect places like MInna, Bida, Mokwa, Kontagora, and Suleja.

He said the victory of Muhammadu Buhari should be celebrated and not marred by civil unrest, adding that the state government would do everything within its power to maintain law and order.
