The Progressive Students Movement (PSM), a prominent Pan-African student body, has lauded the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, for appointing one of their own as a legislative assistant.
In a statement signed by the PSM National Director of Political Affairs, Hon. Comrade Atunise Olamide, the organization expressed its appreciation for what it described as a “kind and knowledgeable gesture.”
The group linked the appointment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s philosophy of inclusivity, emphasizing its potential to foster unity across Nigeria.
“We salute and appreciate Mr. Speaker for this gesture, which aligns with President Tinubu’s ideology of inclusivity,” Olamide said.
“This is a step towards strengthening the unity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and we encourage others to appoint qualified ex-student and youth leaders to prepare them for future leadership roles.”
The movement also extended its gratitude to Hon. Chamberlain Dunkwu, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Speaker, and Hon. Lamir Umar Ibrahim for their instrumental roles in making the appointment possible.
“May posterity be kind to them for their leadership,” the statement added.
On behalf of the National President of PSM, Comrade Ambassador Okereafor Bestman, the organization congratulated Comrade Virgins Onyenze on his new role. They urged him to utilize the opportunity effectively, emphasizing the importance of dedication and loyalty.
“We charge him to use this position to advance the welfare of Nigerian students, youths, and the nation at large,” Olamide concluded.
The PSM remains committed to advocating for the inclusion of young leaders in governance to foster national development and sustainable leadership.
