6 JAMB staff kidnapped, one rescued in Kogi

Officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, Kogi state command, have rescued one of the six Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) staff kidnapped Sunday evening along Obajana – Kabba road in Kogi state.

Sources said the victims were from the head office in Abuja, and were headed for Kogi West, in preparation for the mock UTME examination slated for Tuesday by the board.

The source, who is a staff of JAMB office in Lokoja, pleaded for anonymity and declined to give more details on the sad development. All efforts to get confirmation from the Kogi state police command, proved abortive, as at the time of filing this report.

Speaking on Monday, the public relations officer, Kogi state police command, DSP William Ayah, said immediately they got the information, the state police commissioner, Ayuba Ede, deployed special squad to comb the area and “one of the JAMB officials, by name Hamza, was rescued and is presently receiving treatment in one of the hospitals in Lokoja.”

He added that one identity card belonging to another JAMB official was recovered in the bush.
