55 trained on Beans flour, pineapple juice, water melon juice production in Kogi

55 youth and women in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi state have been trained on production of Beans flour, pineapple juice, water melon juice, tomato paste to have sources of livelihood.

The three days capacity building workshop which ended on Friday was held at Egbira Muslim Community College, Okengwe in Okene LGA of Kogi state was anchored by the the Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology, Kano in collaboration with Synergy Impact Consultants Limited.

Declaring the capacity building workshop closed, the representative of Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology Kano, Aminu Usman Jibia, stated that the 55 participants which include youth and women from Okene LGA were trained on how to produce smoke fish, odourless fufu, Beans flour, pineapple juice, water melon juice, tomato paste among others.

He added that the participants were also taught on marketing of the products to enable the beneficiaries make profit out of the business.

In his response, the consultant Synergy Impact Consultants Wale Ayeni, described the training programme as a veritable tool that can create employment and remove youths and women from labour market.

“We also taught them how best they can explore the value chain in the food and juice processing and with this effort a lot of people will be out of poverty and it will reduce the high rate of insecurity in the Society” he said.

The representative of Ozomata Foundation , Musa Abubakar Yakubu, lauded the facilitator for chosing Okene residents on the very important workshop and appealed to the participants to utilize knowledge gained to boost their businesses.

While commending the organizers of the programme, Yakubu described the training workshop as a means to improve the quality standard of living and urge the beneficiaries to take the advantage of the programme to better their lives.

Highlight of the event was the distribution of five grinding machines and Thirty thousand naira to each participant of the programme.
