The Zamfara state government in collaboration with Police and repentant bandits’ group have secured the unconditional release of 53 kidnap victims out of the 92 recently abducted from Yarkatsina, Kwabtari, Bandahaki and Maje villages in Bingi North of Bungudu local government area of the state.
This was made known by the Commissioner of Security and Home Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Daura, in an interview with newsmen in Gusau Wednesday.
He said their unconditional release was as a result of the ongoing peace reconciliation process initiated by the state government under the leadership of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle.
Blueprint reports that since the beginning of the ongoing peace accord with the bandits about two years ago in Zamfara state, many kidnapped victims were unconditionally released.
“The state government in collaboration with Police and Repentant Bandits secured the unconditional release of 53 kidnapped victims from bandit’s captivity and we shall strive to sustain the peace reconciliation process initiated by the state government to make Zamfara peaceful,” he said.
In an interview with newsmen, a community leader from Bingi North identified as Hon. Saddiq Abdullahi Yarkatsina, expressed appreciation to Zamfara state government under the leadership of Governor Bello Matawalle on the quick intervention for their release.
The commissioner appealed to the good people of the state to always report any strange movement by unpatriotic citizens to the state government and security agencies for prompt response.
He said the peace reconciliation process initiated by the state government will be sustained for peace to thrive in the state.
